Quarterly Meetings for the SCPA : The next SCPA meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February 9, 2012          from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM eastern Congratulations to our newly elected Board members : Gail Smith, CBCP of Suntrust Bank Tamika Bass, MBA, CISA, CRISC of Munich American Reassurance Company The last meeting was hosted at the offices of United Parcel Service (UPS). Speakers scheduled for this meeting were: Chris Summerrow / Eddie LeBlanc - Business Continuity at UPS Philip Strouse - FEMA Region IV Private Sector Liason - FEMA Program Overview and Recent Engagements in Disasters    Effective September 30, 2010, the control and assets of the 501(c)(3) non-profit Georgia corporation known as "Georgia Business Force" (GBF) were transferred officially to the SCPA. During the upcoming meeting, SCPA Executive Board members will discuss what this means for the SCPA. We will also be looking to the members during open discussion to provide ideas how we might use the (considerable) assets to promote the joint missions of the SCPA and the GBF. This acquisition brings the SCPA to a whole new level in terms of our ability to bring private and public organizations together to improve the disaster preparedness of the entire region.
